About Lambeth Mind
Our aims and how we are run
Lambeth Mind is an independent local charity working for the well-being of people experiencing any kind of mental distress by providing information, advice and support and through campaigning for better services.
The majority of us involved in running and staffing Lambeth Mind have experience of using or receiving mental health services of various kinds ourselves.
We manage our affairs independently through our Management Committee which is elected annually from our membership. We currently employ an Interim Manager, a Volunteer & Training Co-ordinator, an Information & Admin Officer and sessional workers. Otherwise Lambeth Mind depends on the support of its volunteer team.
Current projects
Information Helpline
The helpline service is currently suspended due to a lack of funding. We aim to resume this service as soon as funding permits. For alternative sources of information, see our regularly updated online directory on this website, particularly the Helplines & Telephone Counselling category.
If you are in a crisis and need to talk to someone urgently, you can phone the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) for confidential emotional support. Alternatively call Saneline's helpline on 0845 767 8000 for emotional support and information such as details of local mental health services, mental illness, medication and side effects, psychological treatments and other therapies.
Online & Printed Directory
The online directory on this website contains information about a range of local, London-wide and national resources.
A new printed version of the directory has been available since August 2009 - for your free copy email us at info@lambethmind.org.uk or phone 020 7735 3505 and leave your name and address.
Recovery Group
This is a group meeting monthly for people who want to work on their own wellbeing and recovery alongside others. The group meets on the third Monday of every month from 6pm to 7.30pm. If you would like to be involved, please contact us.
Hearing Voices Group
This provides a space for people who hear voices, see visions, or experience other sensory phenomena, to meet and socialise in a relaxed atmosphere. The group meets every Wednesday evening at 5.45pm for a 6pm start. If you would like to be involved, contact us us for further information.
