About Lambeth Mind
Our aims and how we are run
Lambeth Mind is an independent local charity working for the well-being of people experiencing any kind of mental distress by providing information, advice and support and through campaigning for better services.
Our vision for Lambeth is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health and well-being for all, and that treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively, and with respect.
Our mission: Lambeth Mind aims to improve the lives of local people who are experiencing mental distress. This means equipping them with the knowledge to make good decisions about their care, while building their confidence, self-esteem, skills and sense of purpose. It also means supporting and informing friends, families, carers and professionals.
The majority of us involved in running and staffing Lambeth Mind have experience of using or receiving mental health services of various kinds ourselves.
We manage our affairs independently through our trustees which is elected annually from our membership. We currently employ a Voluntary Co-ordinator and an Information Service Manager. Otherwise Lambeth Mind depends on the support of its volunteer team.
Current projects
Information Service
We are very pleased to annouce that, with the help of PCT funding, we relaunched our Information Service at the end of January including an information line you can call. While we are still not able to provide telephone counselling, you can contact us by phone or email for information about services, groups and other support available to you.
The Information Service is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - view contact details and opening times.
If you are in a crisis and need to talk to someone urgently, you can phone the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) for confidential emotional support. Alternatively call Saneline's helpline on 0845 767 8000 for emotional support and information such as details of local mental health services, mental illness, medication and side effects, psychological treatments and other therapies. Also see the Helplines & Telephone Counselling section in our online directory.
